24/7 security operations

Security operations without building a SOC.

Get the monitoring, detection engineering and reporting of a security operations center, scaled to your organization and delivered as a managed service.

The business problem

A security operations center is expensive to build and hard to staff.

Running security operations in-house requires analysts on every shift, a SIEM platform, detection content that stays current and processes that hold up under pressure. For most organizations under 500 employees, that investment is not practical.

The alternative is often no operations function at all: logs that are collected but never reviewed, and incidents that are only discovered when something breaks.

What Simba Cyber does

A managed operations function that fits your size.

Simba Cyber provides continuous monitoring for covered systems and the detection engineering behind it. We decide which log sources matter, build and tune the analytics, prioritize alerts by business impact and report clearly on what we found and what changed.

  • Continuous monitoring arrangements defined in your agreement
  • Detection content tuned to your systems and threats
  • Escalation and response coordination through named contacts
  • Monthly reporting written for both IT and leadership

Scope & capabilities

What the service includes

Capabilities are confirmed for your environment during scoping and documented in your agreement.

01

Monitoring

  • Continuous alert monitoring for covered systems
  • Alert prioritization by severity and business impact

02

Detection engineering

  • Microsoft Sentinel analytics rules and KQL detections
  • Custom detections for your applications and workflows
  • Noise reduction and suppression with documented rationale
  • Mapping detections to MITRE ATT&CK techniques
03

Investigation & response

  • Structured investigation procedures
  • Threat intelligence enrichment of indicators
  • Escalation to named contacts with recommended actions
  • Coordination with incident response when required
04

Reporting

  • Monthly operations reports with incident trends
  • Executive summaries in business language
  • Coverage and log-source status reporting
  • Cost governance for SIEM data ingestion

Common use cases

How this works in practice

Representative scenarios that show how the service responds. They are illustrations, not client case studies.

Scenario

Turning compliance logging into real monitoring

An organization retains firewall and Microsoft 365 logs for an audit requirement. We connect them to Sentinel, build detections that matter and start reviewing them continuously.

Scenario

Reducing SIEM noise

An existing Sentinel workspace generates hundreds of low-value alerts a week. We retire or tune rules, document why and leave a smaller set of detections people can act on.

Scenario

Answering customer security questionnaires

A client asks how you detect and respond to security events. Our documented operations process and reports give you an accurate, defensible answer.

Business outcomes

What you can expect

  • Continuous oversight of covered systems without hiring a shift team
  • Detections that reflect your actual environment and risks
  • Predictable SIEM costs through data ingestion governance
  • Evidence of monitoring for customers, auditors and insurers

Delivery methodology

How we deliver

  1. 01

    Scope

Agree covered systems, log sources, escalation paths and the reporting your stakeholders need.

  2. 02

    Connect

Onboard log sources, validate data quality and estimate ingestion costs before they appear on your Azure bill.

  3. 03

    Operate

Monitor, investigate and escalate according to the documented procedures in your agreement.

  4. 04

    Refine

Retire low-value detections, add new ones as threats change and review coverage with you each period.

Scope and licensing considerations

Monitoring coverage, hours and escalation procedures are defined in your agreement. Monitoring is not the same as guaranteed real-time remediation.

Microsoft Sentinel is billed by Microsoft based on data ingestion and retention. We estimate and govern those costs, but they are paid to Microsoft.

Microsoft is retiring the Sentinel experience in the Azure portal by March 31, 2027. New deployments use the Microsoft Defender portal.

Third-party log sources are included only where a supported connector or agreed integration exists.

Questions

24/7 Security Operations: common questions

How is this different from MDR?

MDR focuses on endpoint, identity and email threats using Microsoft Defender. Security operations extends monitoring to a wider set of log sources through Microsoft Sentinel, with detection engineering and operations reporting. Many organizations start with MDR and add SIEM-based operations later.

Do we need Microsoft Sentinel?

Not always. If most of your environment is Microsoft 365 and Defender, MDR may be enough. Sentinel becomes valuable when you need to monitor firewalls, servers, line-of-business applications or other cloud platforms.

Where are your analysts located?

Service delivery arrangements, including who performs monitoring and from where, are documented in your agreement. Ask us during scoping and we will explain the arrangement for your service.

What does SIEM data ingestion cost?

It depends on which logs you collect and how long you keep them. We estimate costs during scoping and help you choose data tiers and retention settings that balance visibility with budget.
